Verkhovna Rada Committee on Legal Policy and USAID New Justice Program Identified Key Areas of Cooperation

On December 11, 2019, representatives of the USAID New Justice Program and Oleksandr Piskun, Democracy and Governance Programs Manager for the Democracy and Governance Office of the USAID Regional Mission in Ukraine and Belarus, held a working meeting with the leadership and members of the Verkhovna Rada Legal Policy Committee. During the meeting, the Committee Chair Iryna Venediktova thanked the USAID New Justice Program for its efforts in promoting justice sector reform justice sector reform in Ukraine and emphasized the need for further cooperation in this area taking into account the priorities of the Parliament and the Program’s experience and results.

The participants of the meeting identified the key areas of cooperation, including expert assistance in the development and improvement legal framework for judicial discipline, development of mediation, jury trials and Unified Court Information and Telecommunication System, as well as in further optimization of the High Council of Justice’s operations.
