Winter School of Modern Methods of Interactive Teaching

USAID New Justice Program (New Justice) is supporting the Kyiv Regional Center of the National Academy of Legal Sciences in conducting a winter school on modern methods of interactive teaching for law school administrators and faculty representing leading law schools across Ukraine. Head of the Working Group on Legal Education Reform of the Legal Reform Commission under the President of Ukraine Nataliya Kuznietsova, Head of the Ministry of Education and Science Sub-Committee on Developing Legal Education Standards Andriy Boyko, and President of the National Academy of Legal Sciences Oleksandr Petryshyn are participating in the event. Over 40 winter school participants and facilitators are working together in plenary sessions and break-out groups to share and discuss their experiences in implementing new teaching methods and develop recommendations for transforming law school curricula and teaching modalities in the light of the Innovative (Model) Law School Curriculum and Modern Teaching Toolkit earlier developed and presented by New Justice. Besides, the participants are developing recommendations for faculty on preparing students for the Unified State Qualifications Exam. This effort allows representatives of Ukrainian law schools to gain new knowledge, skills, and instruments necessary for improving the quality of legal education in Ukraine. Dates: January 13-18, 2010. Venue: National Academy of Legal Sciences, 70 Pushkinska Str., Kharkiv.
